The Maroochydore region is at the centre of the Sunshine Coast (South East Queensland). It is a major commercial area, with a majority of the retail businesses located in the central business district.

Located in Maroochydore is the Sunshine Plaza; a shopping centre and major bus interchange. Maroochydore is one of Queensland’s most popular holiday destinations, maintaining various major sporting venues. The area maintains a small town charm, yet is a popular and busy retail (and industrial) region.

Like many other areas throughout the Sunshine Coast, Maroochydore is not strictly defined. A general acceptance of the region is from the Sunshine Coast Airport, to the Mooloolah River (Mooloolaba) and Kawana Way. The central business district for the Maroochydore area is located on Horton Parade.

A number of suburbs are located within the Maroochydore urban centre, including: Alexandra Headland, Bli Bli, Buderim, Kuluin, Mooloolaba, Mountain Creek, Mudjimba, Pacific Paradise and Twin Waters. There are a number of effective and comprehensive bus services located throughout Maroochydore, connecting the region with the rest of the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast Airport is located north of Maroochydore, offering both domestic and international flights.

Maroochydore has a population of just over eighteen thousand, and offers close both beautiful beaches and unspoilt hinterland. Maroochydore is unique in that it offers the perfect blend of beaches for surfing (i.e. Mooloolaba & Alexandra Headlands) and beaches for relaxation (i.e. Cotton Tree & Maroochy River).

In the southern regions of Maroochydore, you will discover Underwater World; an ideal family tourist attraction. At Underwater World you will find thousands of marine and freshwater animals within their oceanarium.
